BRANCH 7: Ecosystem Assembly
Representing Non-Human Life in Governance
Membership: Ecosystem Guardians (scientists, Indigenous knowledge-keepers, selected by lot)
Powers:
- Review all legislation for ecological impact
- Veto authority over ecologically destructive policies
- Enforce Rights of Nature
Integrated "Power to the People" Policies:
A. Democracy Includes Non-Human Stakeholders
Care Principle: Ecosystems cannot vote, but they deserve representation
How This Works:
- Ecosystem Assembly is a full branch of government (equal to Legislative Assembly)
- Ecosystem Guardians elected/selected by communities in relationship to those ecosystems
- Guardians have veto power over legislation harming ecosystems
- Legislative Assembly can override veto with 67% supermajority + approval from Office of Future Generations
This is democracy expanded beyond humans to include the web of life
